Chicago rooftops face two challenges: exposure to neighbors and exposure to wind. Without protection, gusts make outdoor dining impossible and sightlines from adjacent buildings eliminate privacy. Effective screens and windbreaks solve both problems—sheltering your space while preserving the skyline views that make rooftop living worthwhile.
We engineer windscreens for rooftop conditions where wind loads are significant—systems rated for 80+ PSF that can handle 100 mph gusts. Heights typically range from four to eight feet, mounted to structural walls or integrated with railing systems. Materials include frosted glass for light-filtering privacy, corrugated metal for industrial character, or slatted wood and aluminum for filtered protection without solid barriers.
Each installation is designed for your specific exposure: the direction of prevailing winds, which neighbors can see in, and what views you want to preserve. Proper engineering and anchoring ensure panels stay secure through Chicago weather—no concern about screens breaking loose in a storm.
