Structural Assessments

Engineering evaluations

Know Before You Build

Before adding a roof deck, removing a wall, or changing a building's use, you need to know what the existing structure can handle. A structural assessment provides that answer—examining foundations, framing, beams, columns, and connections to determine current load capacity and identify any deterioration that could affect your project.

Our assessments combine visual inspection with engineering analysis: reviewing original construction documents where available, evaluating material condition, calculating existing dead and live loads, and determining how much additional capacity remains. For roof deck projects specifically, we verify whether the roof framing meets Chicago's 100 PSF live load requirement or needs reinforcement.

The assessment report gives you actionable information: current structural condition, load ratings, code compliance status, and specific recommendations for repairs or reinforcement. When work is needed, we design the solution and prepare permit documents—moving seamlessly from evaluation to execution.
